Barre B is a boutique fitness studio located in the South Fulton area of Atlanta, affectionately known as #SOFU. It is the brain child of Sherry Darby and Erika Maxie, two South Fulton residents who first met through a shared passion for early childhood education. Sherry, owner of Kumon of Atlanta- Sandtown in South Fulton for over 10 years, recognized that there was a disparity in the area of exercise and health in South Fulton especially as pertains to the kinds of upscale boutique, neighborhood services that one might find in Buckhead or Vinings. She set out immediately to address this need reaching out to her friend Erika Maxie, a NASM certified personal trainer with a background in boutique fitness operations who had also developed her own brand of CORE Fitness mobile services, and asked her to consider a partnership. “In Erika, I knew that I’d be working with someone that has experience and a unique passion for fitness and for this community. I know that together, we’ve created something special.”
The Barre B fitness concept is based upon an exercise technique of low impact, ballet inspired movements designed to lift, tone and tighten target areas of the body increasing strength and flexibility. Barre exercise as a trend began in the U.S. several years ago and has steadily gained in popularity. Barre B integrates the philosophy and foundational concepts of barre combined with Pilates and other high energy elements to help create a lifestyle of fitness. “In following the fitness industry over the years,” said Erika, I have seen a growing demand for differentiated neighborhood services in an intimate upscale setting that benefits the whole person, mind & body, that brings down the busy of our busy lives as opposed to the big box, commercial gyms where you simply get a workout. No matter what your current fitness level is today Barre B can work for you. Services offered include: Yoga, Core Fitness, Cardio Concepts and Personal Training along with the signature Barre B classes. Classes are open level, no experience is required. Ultimately, because barre is low-impact, most anyone can do it. Complete with online check-in, a towel bar and lockers, there are several different packages and memberships to choose from.
